"Hot Topics" abstract
All the abstracts that will be sent to SPOC after the regular
abstract submission deadline will be "Hot Topics" abstract. This means that these abstracts will not be a part of
a SPOC Supplement in International Journal of Pediatric Obesity, but will be reviewed for a poster presentation. The 2 best
"Hot Topics" abstracts will be accepted for a short oral presentation (5 min) among the best abstract accepted for a poster
presentation.

All
submitted and accepted regular abstracts and papers will be published in a supplement to the International
Journal of Pediatric Obesity (IJPO). IJPO is a new, peer-reviewed, quarterly journal of the International
Association for the Study of Obesity (IASO).

Information and Guidelines
Abstracts
should be submitted in English only. The abstract should not exceed 250 words, Times New Roman, 12 Point.
The abstract should be structured with the following headings: Aim, Methods, Results and Conclusion.
The abstract should be followed by a maximum of five key words, listed alphabetically. The presenting author’s
name should be underlined.
1. Submission by e-mail
to spoc@childhoodobesity.info is the only way of submitting abstracts. Mailed offprint or faxed abstracts
will not be accepted.
2. Abstracts that do not fulfil the instructions below will be excluded without any notification.
Therefore, please read carefully the relevant instructions.
3. Abstracts covering all aspects of childhood obesity may
be submitted for review.
4. All accepted abstracts will be published as a supplement in International Journal of Pediatric
Obesity and will be distributed to all registered participants. The same applies for the abstracts of the plenary and review
sessions.
5. The International Scientific Committee of the SPOC 2008 reserves the right to refuse scientific material that
seems inappropriate.
6. Accepted submissions will be scheduled as either oral or poster presentations. The final presentation
of the abstract rests with the International Scientific Committee’s decision. The presenting author will be notified
in due time.
Presenting author must pay an abstract registration
fee of € 50. This fee should be paid together with the conference registration fee.
Instructions:
When preparing files for a Supplement containing abstracts, please mind the subsequent checkpoints:
ü The abstracts should be
kept as one complete file (Microsoft Word, 12 pt, double-spaced) with each abstract on a separate page.
ü The file should be set in program
order (if any), clearly stating any categories, sections or other dividing factors.
ü The intro or preface (if
any) should be included, either as a separate document or incorporated in the abstract file.
ü Please ensure that the abstracts are clearly structured and consistent; i.e. that all necessary information
is included such as:
§ Name and affiliations
of authors
§ Permission to reproduce material (artwork/
figures) copyrighted
by third party (if applicable)
Formats:
§ Tables
(if any): preferably prepared in Microsoft Excel or
Word. If Microsoft
Word is used, please use the “Insert Table” feature
and ensure that each piece of data is contained in a separate cell.
§ Illustrations/figures
(if any): please keep as separate files in EPS, TIFF or PDF format. Photo illustrations should have a resolution
of at least 300 ppi, and CMYK colour conversion should be used (Original figures of good quality can also be sent by post).
